India's automotive manufacturing today is scarcely recognisable from 15-20 years ago. As of 2014, Indian car production was rolling “double sixes” – a sixfold increase that vaulted India to the sixth-largest producer in the world, ahead of Mexico and Brazil, with more than 3 million units produced annually.
