Ethical and independent – these defining characteristics of Control Risks are at the core of who we are as a business and as individuals.


Every day, Control Risks is asked to help clients in potentially controversial, dangerous and sometimes morally complex situations. We handle highly sensitive information and we advise people in, sometimes, extreme crises but whatever we do, we are committed to the highest standards of business integrity and accountability.

Our Code of Ethics summarises the principles that we live by. Additional guidelines for our employees include our Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policy and our Human Rights policy.

Control Risks’ core values are: integrity and ethics; collaboration and teamwork: commitment to people; and professionalism and excellence. Our Missions, Aims and Values serve as a meaningful and practical guide to the day-to-day behaviour expected of all our employees.

Raising concerns

Applying our principles in high-risk environments requires judgement and skill. Control Risks employees who wish to raise ethical concerns are encouraged to consult the company Ethics Committee or a designated confidential point of contact. If a third party (i.e. an external party who is not a client) wishes to make a complaint about Control Risks’ activities, Control Risks will apply its Third party complaints policy. External parties may contact Control Risks management at any of our offices or our General Counsel.

UN Global Compact

Control Risks signed up to the UN Global Compact in 2007, and is committed to embracing, supporting and implementing its ten principles. To demonstrate our on-going commitment and development in these areas, we annually submit a “Communication On Progress” with particular focus on respecting human rights and countering corruption.


In our industry, we believe that corporate independence is vital and Control Risks remains a private company, principally owned by our employees. Independence gives us the platform to be able to offer advice that is always unbiased and objective, with our clients’ best interests uppermost in our minds.

Corporate governance

Control Risks is completely committed to operating in a manner that meets the highest corporate governance standards. Notwithstanding its private company status, Control Risks has adopted applicable aspects of the UK’s 2003 Revised Combined Code on Corporate Governance, and risk management is embedded into our worldwide business processes.
